After finishing World History 1, my daughter is now doing her History Lapbook as a way of reviewing our whole year’s worth of lessons. I’m glad that I was able to see this blog ( Chronicle of the Earth) in Pinterest because this is where I saw the printable Story of the World lapbook stuff that I needed. I’m not actually using the Story of the World but Sonlight’s curriculum ( Child’s History of the World, Usborne Time Traveller and Usborne Book of World History) but somehow I saw that their topics overlap and therefore usable for us.
So this week, my daughter and I have spent about an hour each afternoon cutting, pasting all the printed materials while discussing history. It’s good that I already have all the school supplies at hand because I might have ended up checking http://www.kitepackaging.co.uk/scp/boxes/pallet-boxes/ for more materials.
Just this afternoon, we were doing the chapter on Greek Mythology and honestly, I was blown away by my daughter’s knowledge about the Greeks, their gods and goddesses. As we pasted all 14 different gods and goddesses, she told their roles, stories, relationship with other gods and etc. I’m always amazed with my daughter and how she has learned so naturally without trying so hard ‘memorizing’ stuff. Our lessons mostly consist of readings and as a review, we do narration and that’s it. I believe it’s because of the good materials that she have on her hands..and with that I’m thankful to God for Sonlight .. )
